Refresh and Recharge

As Summer quickly approaches and the school year comes to an end, this is the perfect opportunity to refresh and recharge. A great way to recharge after the stress of exams and school is by focusing on your mental wellness.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and during Mental Health Week, observed from the 6th to the 12th, the emphasis is on compassion and kindness. While it is important to lead a life of compassion and kindness towards others, it is equally as important that you remember to be kind and compassionate to yourself. We’ve compiled the top 10 tips on self-kindness and maintaining mental wellness this summer.

1. Get outside Enjoy the beautiful weather and fresh air by spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for a walk or sitting in your backyard.  2. Get moving Go for a walk or ride your bike. Just enjoy not having to sit in a classroom all day.

3. Stay connected Just because you aren’t seeing your friends every day at school doesn’t mean you should stop chatting with them often. Keeping in touch with your emotional support is critical to your overall wellness.

4. Learn something new

Take the time you are off from school to learn a new skill. The Grove Hubs have programs that are available to you like cooking, music, and much more.

5. Do something kind

Acts of kindness not only brighten someone else's day but also contribute to our own sense of fulfillment and well-being.

6. Catch up on sleep

If you have the time to sleep in a little bit, take it. Being rested can help alleviate feelings of burnout and leave you feeling refreshed.

7. Cook a nutritious meal

Fuel your body and elevate your mood by preparing wholesome dishes packed with nutrients. This can have a significant impact on your energy levels and overall well-being. If you are looking for some nutritious recipe ideas check out some of the delicious recipes Egg Farmers of Ontario.
